How do I apply for a merchant facility?
Visit your nearest Bendigo Bank Branch for a Merchant Application form. Or to obtain further information call us on 1300 720 356 or you can send an email to us by using our Merchant Quote Enquiry Form located on our website.

How long does it take to receive a merchant facility?
A standard merchant facility takes approximately 2 - 3 weeks to set up.

What do I need to provide when applying for a merchant facility?
If you are starting a new business, you will need to provide a business plan with expected turnover. If you are new to Bendigo Bank you will need to supply 6 months personal or business statements. If you currently have an existing merchant facility you will need to supply a copy of your merchant statements (minimum 3 months) with the application.

Can I receive a quote on fees and charges before I apply for a merchant facility?
Yes simply call us on 1300 720 356 or you can send an email to us by using our Merchant Quote Enquiry Form located on our website.

Can I trade before my application is processed?
No. The provision of a merchant facility is governed by your application meeting specific Bendigo Bank standards and being approved.

How long does it take to receive settlement to my account?
Settlement is deposited to your Bendigo Bank account overnight.

Can I accept foreign currencies on my merchant facility?
No. You can only process transactions in Australian Dollars.

Can I use the merchant facility outside of Australia?
No. The Bendigo Bank merchant facilities are only designed to operate within Australia. If your business is registered in another country you must apply for merchant facilities in their country of registration.

Do I need to have a Bendigo Bank account?
Yes. We require all merchant facilities to be linked to a Bendigo Bank account.

What is a chargeback?
Chargeback is a term used by banks when a dispute of a credit card transaction is made by the cardholder. Bendigo Bank will work with you to address the chargeback and determine if the chargeback is warranted. The bank may debit your bank account pending outcome of dispute.

Can I accept Charge Cards (Amex/Diners)?
Yes. The bank does not settle or charge you for these transactions. You need to contact American Express and Diners directly to set up a merchant account and in turn advise the Bendigo Bank of your merchant number. We will link these accepted cards to your merchant facility.

Can I accept Non face to face transactions?
Yes. Bendigo Bank may request additional information about your business to assess your Mail/Telephone requirements and suitability. This facility is generally made available to Merchants who have a Bendigo Bank Merchant facility for a minimum of 6 months.

How can I protect myself from Fraud?
Credit card fraud is a reality and is increasing in the retail market environment, exposing merchants to potential losses. Here are some general fraud tips for you to consider when taking a card payment to safeguard both customers and your own staff.
- Check the card number against any warning notices you may have received
- Do not split sales over different cards
- Be aware of who you are employing, keep detailed and up to date records of staff names, addresses, contact numbers etc.
- Never process transactions through your terminal on behalf of another business

How do I order stationery?
Customers can now visit the nearest Bendigo Bank Branch to obtain EFTPOS Rolls, if you require other stationery or are unable to visit your closest branch you can contact our Merchant department directly on 1300 132 741 Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm EST or email Merchant.Services@bendigobank.com.au.
