Our Future Philanthropists

The Kids Thrive InSchool Philanthropy project is an exciting initiative by the Clifton Hill/North Fitzroy Community Bank® Branch.
Primary school students take part in workshops where they learn about philanthropy, community mapping and community development. They use music, writing, play-acting, drawing and dance to understand philanthropy as well as deliver their own philanthropy project that benefits the local community.
The Community Bank® Branch awarded two Grade 6 groups from Alphington Primary School a $1,000 grant each for their projects. The ‘Girls Whackit’ project established a girls’ cricket team in support of equal opportunity for girls in sport. The ‘Asylum Seekers Support Group’ sought to provide essential support for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in West Melbourne and advocated a more compassionate understanding of asylum seekers.
If these students reflect the leaders of our future how exciting the future of philanthropy will be!
