Partnership is good for students, good for business

Students making a presentation of funds to their chosen charity.
Commencing in 2006 the Bendigo Bank Victoria University Charity Challenge is a partnership between Docklands Bendigo Bank Branch and Victoria University and its students.
The aim of the charity challenge is to assist youth in connecting with their community while gaining first hand business experience.
Students form teams and select a charity to raise awareness and funds. The branch provides mentors for each team as well as $250.00 start up funds.
Teams and mentors seek sponsors for events they will run in order to raise funds. Mentors assist students in letter writing, event management, marketing, negotiations and managing staff/ team members.
Following the end of the semester the teams then have the opportunity to present to Bendigo Bank, Victoria University and the charities and explain what they have learned along the way and also get to hand over a big cheque to their charities.
This semester $78,000 has been raised by the 12 teams participating. The program has been running for six years and they have almost reached their target of $100,000.
