Our Branch

A significant amount of work and public consultation has been undertaken in relation to the feasibility of establishing the Byford Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank.

A group of interested community members was briefed by Bendigo Bank on 4 April 2002 in relation to the proposal to establish Byford Community Bank® Branch‚ and a committee formed to evaluate the proposal.

A preliminary public meeting was held to discuss the Community Bank® concept and the steps required to establish a Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo at Byford. As a result‚ the committee engaged an independent consultant‚ RSM Bird Cameron to conduct a feasibility study in relation to the proposal.

The results of the feasibility study were presented to the committee at a meeting held on April 2003 and it was unanimously voted to proceed towards the establishment of the Byford Community Bank® Branch.

The Byford & Districts Community Bank® Branch officially opened on January 28 2005. The branch celebrated it's eighth birthday in January 2013 and is still going strong. The original compliment of staff has grown from five to eight with three of the original staff members remaining.

Over the past eight years the Community Bank has returned in excess of $400,000 to the community in the form of grants and sponsorships. Many schools, sporting clubs, emergency services and other community groups have been supported by the Community Bank and it's customers.
