Windsurfers are attracted throughout the year to the perfect conditions for their water sport and the national competitions that are held here annually. Geraldton is also a popular tourist destination and visitors to the region make an important contribution to the local economy. In 2004/05 domestic and international visitors were estimated to have spent $202 million dollars in the region.

The Geraldton Community Bank® Branch campaign began in October 2006 when Bendigo Bank officers briefed a group of Geraldton residents about the proposal to establish a branch.

From this meeting‚ a steering committee was formed.

The actual pledge campaign started with a Public Meeting on 14 August 2007 with $800‚000.00 in pledges being reached by mid October 2007.

The Steering Committee decided to move to feasibility in late October 2007 engaging RSM Bird Cameron.

The results of the feasibility study were presented to the committee April 2008 and members decided to proceed with the branch.

Prospectus was launched October 2008 with minimum capital of $1‚100‚000.00 being raised by early February 2009.
