Building Our Children's Resilience grant - Round 1

Maldon & District Community Bank® Branch has announced the recipients of its new grant to support children's resilience in the region, with over $20,000 funding committed in the first round of funding:

  • Uncovering Rural Resilience, a program to be run at the Maldon, Newstead, Baringhup, Dunolly, Tarnagulla and Bealiba primary schools received $18,500; and
  • Parent-Teacher Resilience received $3,000 for work with Chewton, Taradale and Langley Primary Schools (partnering with Castlemaine Community House).

Both projects will focus on supporting teachers and parents, giving them skills and support to nurture resilience in the district’s children.

Lead applicant for the six-school project, Newstead Primary School principal Andrew Frawley, said the grant would mean the schools could engage an organisation called The Resilience Project to work with teachers and parents as well as children on building resilience.

Andrew congratulated Maldon & District Community Bank® Branch for its initiative in setting up an issues based grants program.

“We are so fortunate to have the support of our local branch and look forward to working with them to achieve wonderful outcomes for our children, families and communities.”

The second grant recipient, Castlemaine Community House, will run a similar program, also to support teachers and parents, in three schools.

Both programs will take place in terms 3 and 4 at the local schools.
