A group of interested community members were briefed by Bendigo Bank during
June 1999 in relation to the proposal to establish South Grafton Community BankŪ
Branch and a committee formed to evaluate the proposal.
Two preliminary public meetings were held on 10 August 1999 and 11 August 1999
to discuss the Community BankŪ concept and the steps required to establish
a Community BankŪ Branch of Bendigo bank at South Grafton.
A further public meeting was held on the 22 February 2000 and as a result the
committee engaged an independent consultant to conduct a feasibility study in
relation to the proposal.
The results of the feasibility study were presented to the committee at a meeting
held on 19 June 2000 and it was unanimously voted to proceed towards the establishment
of South Grafton Community BankŪ.
The branch was officially opened for business on 2 December 2000.
