The communities of Geeveston and Dover turned out for the opening of Tasmania’s
first Community Bank® Branches on Thursday‚ 8 May 2003.
It was a truly community celebration‚ with school students providing musical
entertainment‚ youngsters rewarded for a Piggy coloring competition and local
residents and traders turning out to hear Tasmanian Premier Jim Bacon officially
declare the Geeveston branch open for business.
Two hours later and Deputy Premier Paul Lennon officially opened the Dover branch.
Again‚ the Dover community turned out in force for a free sausage sizzle and
entertainment. Youngsters really got into the swing of things‚ with specially
designed Piggy ears‚ to represent Bendigo Bank’s mascot Pig E. Bank.
Congratulations to the people of Geeveston and Dover for their community spirit
and commitment to their towns.
