Drysdale joins the Community BankŪ network in its own right
20/01/2009
Drysdale is now enjoying ownership of its own Community BankŪ branch as their Bendigo Bank sub-branch become a fully fledged Community BankŪ branch owned by local shareholders on January 13.
Under the Community BankŪ model‚ ownership of the branch by the people who bank there means a percentage of the profits earned are distributed back to the community.
Local shareholders bought shares in 2008 in the community company that was formed 10 years ago and operates the Bellarine Peninsula Community BankŪ Branch.
The company has managed the Drysdale branch since April 2007 as a sub-branch but such is the support in Drysdale that it soon earned the right to operate as a Community BankŪ branch.
At the moment‚ the branch is gaining business to the value of more than $1 million a month.
As part of its change to a Community BankŪ branch‚ the Drysdale branch underwent renovations to provide a friendly‚ more open branch for customers and staff alike.
