The Rockingham and Port Kennedy Community Bank® Branch was very pleased to hold its annual High School Competition. Their winning entry titled "The Rockingham Wave" being a concept for bringing everyone of all ages to a community event on the foreshore. Rockingham Community Bank extends reach to Port Kennedy

12/06/2009

Rockingham Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank will establish a second branch in Port Kennedy following consultation with representatives from Bendigo Bank.

Negotiations to secure premises at Port Kennedy Central Shopping Centre‚ Warnbro Sound Drive have been underway for a number of months and are nearing completion. The new branch is anticipated to open once construction is complete in late November.

The branch will provide the full range of Bendigo Bank services but will be owned by Rockingham Community Financial Services Ltd‚ the community owned company that operates the Rockingham Community Bank® Branch.

Rockingham Community Bank® Chairman Len Sheedy said that since the Rockingham branch had opened for business in 2003 its Board had been increasing local sponsorship via community grants.

“The aim of the Rockingham Community Bank® Branch was always to provide locally-owned company which would return profits to our community‚” Mr Sheedy said.

“We have obviously achieved that and are continuing to provide these benefits.

“We continue to see our role as channeling profits into our community and will now be able to do so not from one but from two branches. This will allow us to maintain a strategy of business growth in order optimise opportunities for current and future stakeholders.

“The Board has determined that the establishment of the branch at Port Kennedy‚ under the management and control of the existing Rockingham Community Bank® Branch can best gain such growth.

“The new branch will maximise our growth and maintain our momentum by providing a banking service in this part of Rockingham for the first time.

“By locating in this high-growth area of Rockingham we can best gain growth in business. The new branch will allow us to provide a more convenient service for the residents and businesses located in Port Kennedy and areas further south in Rockingham.

“This is a great opportunity to expand Rockingham Community Bank® business in an area that already has a significant proportion of Community Bank® customers‚” Mr Sheedy said.

“A successful venture in Port Kennedy would increase the community profits available for distribution in the local area.”
