Generation Green is banning the Bulb!
What is Ban the Bulb?
Ban the Bulb is an initiative of Bendigo Bank’s Generation Green™ Program. It involves exchanging incandescent light globes with new energy efficient globes (CFL’s), in the homes and businesses of participating communities. The globe installations are made by local community groups who receive money for every globe they exchange.
So far over 60 Victorian Communities have participated in Ban the Bulb reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 170,000 tonnes.
A total of 16,899 Victorian households and businesses have reduced Greenhouse gas emissions as a result of participating in the Generation Green™ community engagement activity, Ban the Bulb. Since its inception, the Generation Green™ Ban the Bulb program has replaced 272,410 incandescent bulbs for new energy efficient bulbs in 62 Victorian communities with a total greenhouse gas abatement of 170,729 tonnes. This greenhouse gas abatement is equivalent to taking 39,704 cars off the road for a whole year and will save participating households and businesses roughly $30 million in future energy bills.
