Hottest item in Victoria - storage containers!

2 June 2020

When the question was asked of Victorians what their immediate need was, the overwhelming response was ‘somewhere to keep what we do have left safe’.

Shipping containers are being used as storage units throughout East Gippsland and the Hume regions.

We’ve seen at times of natural disasters that these versatile units, traditionally used on ships to transport cargo, become a safe storage place following a natural disaster.

Rotary Essendon North has already delivered 49 containers – 34 of those have gone to Gippsland and 15 to the Hume region.

The 20ft containers are purchased for $3500 (refurbished) and delivered to the location.

As shipping containers started to arrive on properties the word spread. There are a further 90 requests for containers which the club is looking to provide.

Thanks for your donations and thanks Rotary!
