Bowling down rewards

On July 7, seven of Ku-ring-gai’s eight bowling clubs came together for the Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank® Shield.

At the event we presented the Warrawee Bowling Club with a cheque from our Referral Rewards Program.
Under this program we give a $500 donation to a community club every time one of their members takes out a home or investment loan. In this case, the club received a very welcome $2,500.

Community Development Manager, Sharon Franke said, “This program reflects our model of giving back to the community which has allowed us to return more than $1.7 million to the Ku-ring-gai community in our 13 years of operation.”

The club plan on using the donation to help drive membership recruitment within the area. New memberships are vital to the future of the 107-year-old traditional bowling club. They do not have the usual revenue streams that many modern clubs with gaming machines do. This makes them very reliant on memberships to keep them moving forward.

Along with the usual weekly bowling competitions, the club has provided therapy bowls to patients from the Bernard Curran Rehabilitation Unit for the past 25 years. The surrounding schools also use the club for school sports and coaching.

President of the Warrawee Men’s Bowling Club, Peter, said “The Referral Rewards Program provides a benefit to all concerned. On behalf of the Board I thank our members for their loyalty and support in electing to take part in this program. It’s a wonderful thing when a Community Bank® branch and community club can work together for the benefit of both."
