Let's get started by taking a look at the things you need to know now.

  • This scholarship supports students who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person;
  • The scholarships are available across four categories:
    • Category 1: for study at Undergraduate bachelor’s degree level at any Australian university or college
    • Category 2: for study at Undergraduate bachelor’s degree level at the University of Wollongong
    • Category 3: for study at TAFE (excl. apprenticeships and traineeships)
    • Category 4: for study towards a TAFE apprenticeship or traineeship at an approved Registered Training Organisation
  • Any subject can be studied under this scholarship provided that:
    • for studies at an Undergraduate bachelor’s degree level you are studying:
      • on a full-time basis either on campus and /or off campus (including online)
      • in an approved Australian course at an Australian university or college campus
    • for TAFE studies:
      • your study is undertaken at a TAFE institute in an approved Australian course at the level of:
        • Certificate I, II, III or IV, or
        • Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate degree
      • the TAFE course must be of at least 10 weeks’ duration for full time study (or the part time equivalent).
      • you can be studying on campus and /or off campus (including online) and can be studying on a full-time or part-time basis.

  • Accommodation? Yes, it's covered. This scholarship supports accommodation costs, reducing the financial burden of paying rent.
  • Study resources? Books and computers are a must for you to get through your studies, so it makes sense for these must-have items to be covered.
  • How much? Exactly how much the scholarship covers in expenses may vary between scholarships. For more information please refer to the scholarship description on the application system or the information pack (see below).
  • How long? The duration of scholarships may vary between scholarships. For more information please refer to the scholarship description on the application system or the information pack (see below).
  • Deferring? Scholarship funds cannot be put on a lay-by, so if you're planning a gap year you'll have to wait to apply.

  • You must include your Year 12 results (if applicable) and University or TAFE Letter of Offer before submitting your online application.
  • You can commence your application then save it, so you can come back and complete it when you have your required information.
  • We receive hundreds of applications. Think about your story, the challenges you have faced as well as your hopes for your future education and career.
  • Have your referees briefed and any written references ready to be included in your application.
  • Quotes/estimates – obtain quotes / estimates or research the study related costs you will face during your first year of university e.g. quotes on accommodation costs (university provided or private), estimates of costs of study related expenses such as textbooks, supplies, equipment (computers, printers etc).
  • Don't leave your application until the last minute. Give yourself plenty of time to complete the application process.
