Bendigo Bank launches health cover

2 October 2006 |Media centre

Bendigo Bank has forged a healthy relationship with Australian Unity to launch Bendigo Health Cover – providing a complete range of health insurance though its national branch network.

Launching the company’s new health care initiative, Chief General Manager Solutions Marnie Baker said Bendigo Health Cover was a great new addition to Bendigo Bank’s wide range of products and services.

“For almost 150 years, Bendigo Bank has been well known for looking after the financial wellbeing of its customers, and from today, will be listening to and catering for our customers’ health cover needs as well,” Ms Baker said.

“We have consistently maintained that healthy and sustainable communities are also great business, and financial health is just one aspect of that,” she said.

“We work closely with our communities to identify local needs and, through our branch network and community engagement models, we are providing non-banking solutions which will enhance the future prospects of these communities.

“Our commitment to grow our presence in regional Australia continues, whether it is through a Community Bank® branch, a company branch or through our other enterprise models.

“And this new initiative will be welcomed by customers – it provides valuable personalised service for our regional communities.

“With more than 340 branches nationally, we now offer a significant distribution network – and with over half of these in regional areas - critical face-to-face service.”

Bendigo Bank has provided quality insurance cover for households and businesses at affordable prices for many years and that has now extended to health cover.

“And just like every product or service available through the Bendigo, when customers choose Bendigo Health Cover they can expect great service and value for money,” Ms Baker said.

“It is a pleasure to join with Australian Unity to offer people in our communities the choice of arranging all their insurance through a locally based name they trust,” she said.

Australian Unity is a national healthcare, financial services and retirement living group with a history that extends over 165 years.

Australian Unity Group Executive of Healthcare Amanda Hagan said the partnership with Bendigo Bank was part of Australian Unity’s corporate health distribution strategy.

“Australian Unity’s quality product offering, coupled with our experienced back-end administration function, allows organisations like Bendigo Bank to be confident in our ability to support a valuable service to their customers,” Ms Hagan said.
