How claims work

11 June 2019 | 4 min read
Making a claim needn’t cause a headache. It’s not something you do every day, but it’s what we do every day.

In fact, our insurer, CGU, pay an average of 98% of all claims lodged to people just like you each year.

When you're going through a stressful time, the last thing you need is more hassle. We’ve made it as simple and easy as we can.

Safety first: before you claim

If you’ve been subjected to a storm or natural disaster, make sure your property is safe before you return.

If you’ve been involved in a serious accident or have been the victim of theft or vandalism, contact police to report the incident as soon as possible. Keep the police or incident report for when it's time to make a claim.

How to make a claim

You can claim online or give us a call – we're happy to help.

We’ll ask you a few easy questions about your claim. We'll also need to know the best way to get in touch with you to keep you informed as to how your claim is progressing at our end.

We typically assign a dedicated claims specialist to you, giving you a direct contact for any questions you may have.

Some claims are simple; others are more involved. Either way, you can rest assured that we’ll work quickly and efficiently to process your claim.

Repairs, replacement and rebuilding

What happens next depends on the size of your claim. For large claims, we’ll assign an insurance assessor to gauge the damage and note requirements for repair. In some cases, we may ask specialists to provide advice on the claim.

Next, we’ll work with you to obtain repair quotes and agree on repairs or rebuilding or, in some cases, cash settlement. We have a network of quality repairers who can help you wherever you are.

We’ll keep you updated on the status of your claim every step of the way.
