A grant from the Community Bank is supporting Knit One Give One (KOGO) which is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based charity, to produce beautiful hand-knitted items.
The knitted items provide warmth and an emotional boost to recipients, who know that they have been hand-made with love by a caring community.
The charity’s volunteers make around 100,000 items a year, including 1,000 baby welcome packs.
The packs consist of hand knitted or crocheted cot and pram blankets, a hat, booties, jumper, and a toy. They provide a boost to new families as they undergo a significant period of adjustment due to social isolation and greater financial vulnerability.
The Community Bank’s grant is one of thousands funded by the Bendigo Bank network focusing on community inclusion. Its contribution covers the costs of locally sourced calico bags to bundle the baby welcome packs together.
“KOGO fosters connection, dignity and hope across Victoria,” said Jeff Kagan, the Board Chairman of Community Bank Caulfield Park.
“Their grassroots impact aligns deeply with our commitment to supporting inclusive, values-driven initiatives.”
By covering the costs of packaging, more packs can be distributed to families. This increases the opportunity for more volunteers to support those less fortunate by giving back. It also provides them with a sense of fulfillment and value.
KOGO’s Chief Executive Officer acknowledges the importance of the ongoing partnership with the Community Bank.
“Community Bank Caulfield Park has supported KOGO for many years by funding the purchase of the calico bags for the packs, which includes the printing of Kogo’s logo onto the bags,” she said.
“Without this invaluable support, KOGO’s reach into the community would be much more limited.”
