Artist Sofie Dieu and East Gippsland Art Gallery have come together to create a guide to help locals. This guide has been given free to individuals affected in the East Gippsland fires.
Our Victorian Bushfire Appeal was excited to come on board and provide an $8997 grant to assist.
The guide, ‘Stillness through art, a guide to overcome eco-anxiety’ will support the community in its journey towards recovery.
The guide offers a set of practical and engaging tools that positively contributes to mental health and wellbeing. The unique content of the guide is created with the help of experts in the fields of mental health, wellbeing, art, and bushfire recovery.
Just listen to what some of the locals had to say:
- “It has given me an opportunity to be creative and given me tools to use for creating stillness in my life.”
- “It is just good to recognise [eco-anxiety] is a valid concern. I felt relieved to not have it bottled up inside me as always. Even for a short time to project it was good.”
- "It helped me to reset and slow down my inner voices. I felt engaged, purposeful and enlightened.”
What an amazing outcome!
