More than $4.3 million has been injected into the Mallacoota community through our Bushfire Disaster Appeals. In partnership with the Victorian Government, we've supported many recovery projects and programs.
Your donations have given us the chance to help the town in its short-term recovery with programs such as:
- Youth recovery initiatives; and
- Mental health and well-being programs.
Mallacoota suffered extensively. The town was cut off for several days due to damage to the local power supply.
Support came from two Community Bank companies, with a $50,000 donation. The funds allowed the installation of a 40kW community solar system. The town can now remain connected with power, and continue to operate, should another natural disaster occur.
Mallacoota Sustainable Energy Group (MSEG) will manage this project. They are a community group run by local volunteers. The strategic intent is to achieve a stable, reliable, sustainable, and renewable energy future for the town and district.
We understand the recovery process is a marathon, not a sprint. While we delivered essential immediate relief and emergency support, we also focus on long-term recovery. Sustainably investing in overall health and economic well-being. This is all achieved through a community-led approach.
