The Cudlee Creek bushfire, which burned in the final week of 2019, destroyed 98 homes. It affected the towns and communities of:
- Cudlee Creek,
- Lobethal,
- Woodside,
- Brukunga,
- Harrogate,
- Charleston,
- Lenswood,
- Gumeracha,
- Kenton Valley,
- Montacute, and
- Mt Torrens.
To date, only three of these homes have been re-built with a further 53 are under construction.
A $40,000 grant from Bendigo Bank’s SA Bushfire Appeal will assist residents. Once their homes are complete, it will go to rebuilding and replanting their gardens.
This will provide a visual relief from fire-damaged landscapes. The project aims to re-establish a sense normality to the affected communities.
Community Enterprise Foundation is proud to be working with Habitat for Humanity South Australia to support the delivery of the Gardens of Hope project.
