Hello, I'm Ian Martin, vice chancellor of Deakin University. I'm here to talk about the partnership our university has with Bendigo Bank. Bendigo Bank has established with Deakin University the first of its kind, a partnership banking model that builds on their long experience with other community banking models. This innovative approach provides high quality banking services, but at the same time delivers profits back to Deakin University to enable us to support our education and our research and work of our alumni in our communities across the university.
Having just moved back to Australia from a period in the United Kingdom, I've taken up the opportunity of joining the Bendigo Bank who are providing now my banking services, and I can state that it was a very easy and seamless transfer for me, and I encourage you to consider doing the same. Over the last three years, the Bendigo Bank community model has delivered $50,000 in the first year back to the university, a hundred in the second year, and this, our third year, it looks like being $150,000 of profit coming back to the Deakin community.
Among the beneficiaries from the money raised from this partnership has been the Feast on Diversity, the Emergency Medical Challenge, and a number of alumni events. In addition to the profits being powered back into the Deakin community, there has been a further $120,000 committed over the next four years to support student scholarships to enable students who perhaps wouldn't be able to study at Deakin to come and enjoy our wonderful educational experience. I encourage you to look at this model and to see whether they could help you with your own banking needs.
Watch Deakin Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin talk about the great outcomes generated from our partnership.
