$10,000 kick starts Ben’s business dream
Ben Gundry is looking for a new location for his fledgling recycled furniture business after winning $10,000 thanks to a Bendigo Bank and CGU Insurance competition.
The competition was run late last year on the Bank's social and online sites and required readers to describe their bigger picture for a chance to win $10,000 towards their dream.
By sharing his dream, Ben has also won an additional $10,000 to renovate his parent's bathroom.
"I've been running my business from my parent's backyard shed for the past 12 months, which has really helped me get my business up and running," an excited Mr Gundry said.
"With the $10,000, I'm planning to expand my business and move it into a proper premises, freeing up the shed for mum and dad again.
"My parents haven't made any plans for the unexpected winnings just yet, but are looking forward to starting their bathroom renovations in the new-year."
Head of Bendigo Bank Insurance Nick Carter said Bendigo Bank had partnered with CGU insurance as part of an insurance awareness campaign.
"You didn't need to be a customer of the Bank to enter, you just needed a dream big enough to convince the judges you deserved to win the $10,000 prize," Mr Carter said.
"Entrants could also win instant prizes by sharing with their friends for their chance to win $10,000 towards their bigger picture."
Ben was presented with his prize at Bendigo Bank's Warragul branch by Branch Manager, James Ross.
Mr Ross said it was exciting that someone from Warragul had won with 500 branches across Australia involved in the competition.
"The nationwide promotion had helped highlight the importance of insurance," he said.
"Everyone has a big dream; a new car, a home or backyard renovation and our Bank can help protect your bigger picture.
"I'll definitely be working on his business banking and insurance as he expands his business, Mr Ross said.
"And with the Bank named Business Bank of the Year by Roy Morgan for the fourth consecutive year, we're well placed to help Ben as he grows his business."
