Bendigo Bank’s Katoomba & Upper Blue Mountains and North Richmond & Districts Community Bank® companies have launched an appeal to support communities in New South Wales devastated by bushfire.

The appeal, conducted by the Bank’s philanthropic arm Community Enterprise Foundation™, was launched with a $20,000 donation from the Community Bank®companies.

North Richmond & Districts Community Bank® Company Chairman, Trevor Hitchcock, said the community is still in an extremely dangerous and volatile position and is concerned about what the next few days could bring.

“People’s safety is the most important thing, but with more than 200 homes already lost it is evident our community is going to face a battle even after the fires are contained.

“Bendigo Bank and its Community Bank® network has experience in responding to disasters like this, partnering with communities and helping our customers as they recover.

“We know communities impacted by disaster need ongoing support well after the immediate threat has passed and our Bank will be there for the long-haul,” he said.

Bendigo Bank NSW State Manager, Phil Jones, also announced assistance would be offered to those who have lost homes, businesses or income as a result of the fires.

“We are keen to help people through this tough time and I encourage our customers affected by fire to contact us as soon as possible.

“We have an assistance package available and we’re keen to talk to our customers and hopefully take their mind off at least one of the challenges facing them at this time,” Mr Jones said.

Impacted customers are encouraged to visit their local branch or call 1300 BENDIGO (1300 236 344).
