Bendigo Bank expands international trade services

3 June 2002 |Media centre

Bendigo Bank announced today that its business customers can now benefit from a broadening of Bendigo's trade services as a result of enhanced international capabilities.

According to Managing Director Rob Hunt, Bendigo's business banking customers now have access to the most efficient means available for settling international trade transactions.

The enhanced services provide Bendigo's import/export business customers with access to virtually any world market using flexible, web-based technology and specialist expertise in international trade processing.

"Bendigo Bank's international trade capabilities leverage the skills and expertise of a number of international trade specialists," Hunt said.

"These capabilities position us to provide very competitive and comprehensive international trade facilities to the import/export community.

"This is particularly important to the growing number of regional communities we serve, because their businesses by and large do not compete on a level playing field.

"Our aim as their banker is to help them position themselves to compete in the new global economy. Through enhancing their prospects, we will help build stronger markets for Bendigo to bank in the future."

Bendigo's head of business banking, Ashley Hood, said: "Our international trade specialists will assist our business bankers in providing focused solutions to our customer's complex banking requirements. Importantly, they will help our customers to grow their businesses."

Bendigo's senior manager of international trade, Geoffrey Hemmes, said: "The enhanced capabilities will help Bendigo to grow our international trade business, and will provide existing (and potential) customers with a real solution for their trade banking needs.

"We will be working closely with our colleagues in Bendigo Bank Group Treasury, who will provide on-going support for us with the provision of foreign exchange products to our international trade customers.

"Overall, we aim to deliver a seamless service, combined with a strong ethic of customer satisfaction."

Mr Hemmes said customers could seek further information by telephoning 1300 366 666.
