Community responds with Appeal for Scotsburn

22 December 2015 |Media centre

Buninyong & District Community Bank® Branch have joined forces with Ballarat Community Health to launch the Scotsburn Bushfire Appeal.

Donations to assist those impacted by these devastating pre-Christmas bushfires can be made at any Bendigo Bank in branch or online.

The Appeal - which has been kick started with a $10,000 donation from Buninyong & District Community Bank® Branch - aims to support the communities in the Scotsburn region where the bushfires had taken a strong hold and destroyed homes.

Buninyong & District Financial Services (the company that operates Buninyong & District Community Bank® Branch) chairman Steve Falconer said the local branch, and the wider Bendigo Bank network, were keen to do all it could to help local people in the wake of the bushfires.

"With the unprecedented weather conditions over the past week and the temperature set to rise again, we want to be able to respond immediately and help affected communities get back on their feet," Mr Falconer said.

"Funds raised now will be ready to be distributed to those in need, when and where they need it."

Bendigo Bank’s Foundation CEO David Impey urged people right across Australia to donate to the appeal and support those who have been impacted.

"Our past experience tells us that Victorians, and Australians, are generous when it comes to helping those in need - we don’t expect it to be any different in this case.

"In Victoria and South Australia, the recent days of 40-plus temperatures has seen lives lost and homes destroyed and we know that more communities across Australia will ultimately be affected.

Donations to the Scotsburn Bushfire Appeal can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch or online.

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
