20 June 2011 |Media centre

Bendigo Bank and Carbon Down are extending the entry period for the Generation Green™ Energy Saver Initiative to give even more Victorian businesses the opportunity to win $10,000 to reduce their environmental impact.

The Generation Green™ Energy Saver Initiative aims to help Victorian businesses save money and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Bendigo Bank’s Head of Environment and Sustainability, Trudy Ellery, said the initiative would help Victorian businesses reduce emissions by more than 10,000 tonnes through the distribution of energy saving power boards.

“This reduction is equivalent to taking more than 2,500 cars off the road for a whole year,” Ms Ellery said.

“Across Australia stand-by energy consumption costs the business community more than $588 million annually.

“Participating businesses will have the opportunity to save up to $500 on their energy bills every year by reducing unnecessary stand-by energy use.

“We encourage Victorian businesses to tell their fellow business owners how easy it is to join the initiative, save energy, and win.”

In addition to entering to win $10,000, the first 5,000 entrants will receive a free energy saving power board with a retail value of $49.95.

To enter, simply log on to the Generation Green™ website www.bendigobank.com.au/generationgreen/ and tell us what your organisation has done or could do to save energy and reduce its environmental impact.

Entries now close midnight on Thursday 30 June 2011.
