Flood appeal raises more than $1 million
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Queensland Flood Appeal has hit the $1 million mark, with more than 7,300 individual contributors opening their hearts and wallets to support Queensland’s flood affected communities.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Executive Customer and Community, Russell Jenkins said the bank had been overwhelmed by the compassion shown by everyday Australians.
“Over the weekend, our branches and website were inundated with customers and community members eager to donate to the appeal, Mr Jenkins said.
“Thanks to their support, the Queensland Flood Appeal has reached $1 million in community contributions and the tally is continuing to rise.”
Queensland Flood Appeal was established by Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s philanthropic arm, Community Enterprise Foundation™, to help fund relief, recovery and reconstruction projects in flood affected communities.
Community Enterprise Foundation™, Chief Executive Officer, Callum Wright said, the foundation would begin distributing funds raised by the appeal in the coming days.
“Funds will be gifted to relief agencies in Queensland to provide emergency counselling, basic essentials and accommodation for flood affected residents, Mr Wright said.
“Many families have lost everything and are relying on emergency help to get through.
“I’d like to encourage everyone to give what they can to help Queensland residents get back on their feet.”
Donations to the Queensland Flood Appeal can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch or online at www.bendigobank.com.au/foundation/qldflood. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
