Flood appeal raises more than $600,000
An appeal run by Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s philanthropic arm, Community Enterprise Foundation™ to raise funds for communities affected by the recent Queensland floods has reached $600,000 in community contributions.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Executive Customer and Community, Russell Jenkins said people across Australia had opened their hearts and wallets in support of the appeal.
“We have been overwhelmed by the compassion shown by everyday Australians, who have visited our website and branches in droves to donate to the appeal,” Mr Jenkins said.
“Yesterday alone, the appeal received more than $100,000 from people who were touched by the plight of communities across Queensland.
“Many communities are doing it tough but with the help and compassion of others they can begin to rebuild.
“Bendigo and Adelaide Bank is please to be able to assist these communities by not only making charitable giving more accessible to everyday Australians, but by joining with our Community Bank® partners to contribute $100,000 to the recovery effort.
“In addition to managing the appeal, we have established a Facebook page, where people can show their support for affected communities and contribute to the appeal.
“Many families have lost everything and I’d like to encourage everyone to dig deep and give what they can.”
Donations to the Queensland Flood Appeal can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch or online at www.bendigobank.com.au/foundation/qldflood. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
