NSW Bush Fire Appeal

8 January 2002 |Media centre

Bendigo Bank is accepting donations for the NSW Bush Fire Appeal in support of a group of good Samaritans from Ipswich, Queensland.

The Ipswich Community Youth Service is walking from Ipswich to Sydney and will raise funds for the victims of the NSW Christmas Fires along the way.

The walkers will leave Ipswich on Wednesday, 9 January and arrive at Rosehill, Sydney on Monday, 21 January.

Along the way the walkers will accept donations of cash, blankets, non-perishable food items, pet supplies, toys and clothing. They will drop into Bendigo Bank branches along the way to deposit money collected.

People interested in assisting can donated money at any branch of Bendigo Bank, including Community Banks and on-line Agencies.

The group is confident of raising more than $100,000. Money raised from the walk will be presented to the Sydney rural fire brigade and will be distributed to fire victims by The Smith Family.
