One-of-a-kind Bank app scoops tech award

18 June 2015 |Media centre

Bendigo Bank's miBanker app has won the 2015 Victoria iAwards for Financial Services.

The iAwards are held on behalf of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) to honour companies at the cutting edge of innovation.

The first of its kind in Australian banking, miBanker was launched in January 2015 to help the Bank's business customers grow and better manage their business.

Head of Business Banking, Stephen Gorman said receiving the award was testament to the value of the app in managing relationships, helping to educate time-poor business owners and ultimately creating deeper connections with customers.

"Our business customers tell us that it's not easy to be across all aspects of running a business, from cash flow and general business management challenges, to cost control, staffing and future planning," Mr Gorman said.

"They want the flexibility to source information they want to receive. With miBanker, our customers choose the information they want to receive, at a time and place that suits them.

"The app provides a wealth of relevant video content at their fingertips, helping them make better business decisions and staying connected and better informed about the issues that matter most. "To achieve our goal to be Australia's most customer-connected bank, we need to deliver innovations that make us even more relevant to customers and miBanker is a great and unique example for Australian banking customers.

"We think miBanker is customer connection at its most innovative, and this award recognises the significant investment the Bank continues to make to benefit its business customers nation-wide," he said.

The Bank has created the app in partnership with bhive GROUP, an Australian communications firm focusing on customer engagement through the mobile channel.

Founder & Executive Director Michael Wall said the iAwards is wonderful recognition of a collaborative approach by Bendigo Bank and bhive Group to solve a key customer need using mobile technology.

The national Australian Information Industry Association iAwards will be held in August 2015.
