Bendigo Bank today announced it will be the National Banking Partner of Camp Gallipoli, Australia’s premier community celebration of the Gallipoli centenary.

In capital cities and across Regional Australia, Camp Gallipoli will bring together all Australians from varying backgrounds and cultures to celebrate the ANZAC tradition of equality, loyalty and friendship.

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Managing Director Mike Hirst said the Bank’s support of Camp Gallipoli aligned with its commitment to building strong communities.

"The Gallipoli centenary celebrations will commemorate the qualities of mateship and comradeship, telling the story of young men and women whose tight-knit community was built on strength and endurance," he said.

"100 years later, and a new generation of Australians is learning about the ANZAC legend, and so we see the Camp Gallipoli event as the next best thing to being at Gallipoli on 25 April.

"Sponsoring Camp Gallipoli means that we’re commemorating an important part of our nation’s history, but even bigger than that, we’re playing a key role in passing on the qualities upon which the battle at Gallipoli was fought," he said.

CEO of the Camp Gallipoli Foundation, Chris Fox, said; "So many soldiers that fought in World War One represented both large and small communities from across Australia.

"Bendigo and Adelaide Bank supports and celebrates the spirit of community, a philosophy shared by Camp Gallipoli, and one that our diggers forged on the shores of ANZAC Cove, 100 years ago."

The Camp Gallipoli Sleepout event will be held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and selected regional centres. To find out more about the events or to purchase tickets visit www.campgallipoli.com.au
