The Maldon community working together to reduce its impact on the environment
For the month of September, the Maldon community have been working together to reduce their impact on the environment and reduce their energy bills at the same time!
As a part of our Generation Green™ program, Maldon Community Bank® Branch worked with the Department of Justice, Easy Being Green, Castlemaine SES, Maldon CFA, Maldon Football & Netball Club and Mount Alexander Sustainability Group on the Cut CO2 Now campaign. The campaign aimed to reduce the greenhouse gases emitted by residents in the Maldon community by 10,000 tonnes as a result of exchanging 9000 incandescent light bulbs for energy efficient bulbs. By installing between 9 and 12 energy saving globes, a four-person household can save up to 1 tonne of greenhouse gas emissions annually, and save around $180 off their energy bill each year.
The Cut CO2 Now campaign involved free installation of the energy-saving globes because the Department of Justice was sponsoring the event. Members of the Maldon community were invited to register their names with the Maldon Community Bank®Branch personally to have their free installation booked in.
