4 August 2026
Bendigo Bank today announced the appointment of Christopher Dean to its executive team as the Bank’s Chief Customer Officer Consumer Banking.

Bringing more than two decades of experience in banking, Christopher joins Bendigo Bank with a proven track record of leadership and innovation. He brings deep expertise in customer experience, people leadership and digital transformation, with a passion for improving processes, products and services.

Prior to joining Bendigo Bank, Christopher held several senior positions at HSBC UK, including Managing Director, Head of Retail Banking, Wealth and Mortgage Distribution, and spent 14 years at Barclays in leadership roles across the consumer and business divisions of the Bank.

Bendigo Bank Chief Executive Officer, Richard Fennell, said he was pleased to welcome Christopher to the Bank and highlighted his extensive experience in leading large branch networks and driving growth while delivering enhanced risk outcomes.

"Christopher’s expertise will be instrumental in improving our customer-facing processes, sharpening our digital offerings and ensuring we deliver simpler, more intuitive banking to our 2.9 million customers,” Mr Fennell said.

“As Chief Customer Officer for Consumer Banking, Christopher will be responsible for overseeing the Bank's consumer and retail businesses, with a focus on growing the business through the continued delivery of exceptional service,” Mr Fennell concluded.

Mr Dean said he was excited to join the bank, calling out Bendigo Bank’s long history of innovation including its pioneering of the unique Community Bank model, the launch of Australia’s first and best mobile-only digital bank Up, and the recent roll out of enhanced Bendigo brand digital capabilities including the Bendigo Lending Platform and digital onboarding.

“I’m excited to build on Bendigo Bank’s proud past and I’m looking forward to accelerating the Bank’s digital capabilities so we can serve our retail customers better and build even deeper, more meaningful relationships with them,” Mr Dean said.

Christopher will be based in Melbourne and will officially assume the role in September, when Adam Rowse will resume his role as Chief Customer Officer Business and Agribusiness.
