More Australians will be equipped with the skills needed to explore the internet safely and confidently thanks to Bendigo Bank’s continued support of Get Online Week.
The Bank is contributing more than $80,000 to national charity Good Things Australia, which runs Get Online Week, to help people improve their digital skills through fun, community events.
It takes Bendigo Bank’s contribution to Good Things Australia to over $250,000 over the past three years.
The continued support forms part of a concerted effort by Bendigo Bank to provide Australians with the knowledge needed to explore the internet safely and conduct their online banking with confidence and includes:
- Bendigo Bank's face-to-face 'Banking Safely Online' education program to help customers safely navigate online banking. More 200 sessions have been held and over one thousand Bendigo Bank customers, and members from dozens of different community groups are now better equipped to navigate digital banking and better protect themselves online.
- An ongoing referral program with Good Things Foundation that has grown to 58 branches being linked with community organisations to directly support hundreds of customers to learn a new digital skill and gain greater confidence online.
- A new initiative that will see Bendigo Bank Branch Banking Safely Online Sessions listed on the Good Things Foundation website throughout Get Online Week to help reach more people.
Bendigo Bank’s Chief Customer Officer Consumer Banking, Taso Corolis said growing digital capability to meet the needs of customers has been critical to the success of the Bank’s strategy but also its ability to acquire, retain and deepen relationships with its customers.
“As customer preferences and expectations regarding digital access to banking continues to increase, it’s really important for Bendigo Bank to bring everyone on this digital journey with us,” Mr Corolis said.
“We know first-hand from our customers that feeling safe while they bank online is paramount. The more people we can help educate and support to build digital confidence, the better.
“As a major sponsor of Get Online Week 2024, we want to raise awareness about the need for all Australians to build their digital skills so they can bank safely online, or via their device with ease and confidence.
“We’re incredibly excited to again be partnering with Good Things Foundation to help all Australians feel safer and more secure online, no matter who they bank with,” Mr Corolis concluded.
Get Online Week is Australia’s largest community-led campaign that focuses on promoting digital inclusion in our population. This year, more than 500 organisations will host events in their local communities that will change the lives of digitally excluded people for good.
Every year, Get Online Week reaches more than 15,000 Australians in need of digital support who may otherwise get left behind.
