Bendigo Bank branches in Mitchell Street and Eaglehawk will undergo major refurbishments in a demonstration of the Bank’s commitment to the region and the evolving needs of its customers.
The Bank will soon complete a $500,000 refurbishment of its Mitchell Street branch, located in the heart of Bendigo, with a further $700,000 being invested at the Eaglehawk branch, to deliver improved face-to face banking experiences for customers in the region including:
- Faster service with the addition of two new teller positions
- Around-the-clock convenience with a new 24-hour accessible foyer featuring a Smart ATM
- Improved privacy with three new, dedicated offices for personal banking meetings, modernised facilities and a number of security upgrades to ensure the safety of staff and customers.
These upgrades are part of a wider program across the Bank’s corporate sites and offices delivered in the past 12 months, with $5.5 million invested to deliver technology upgrades, enhanced accessibility and modern banking spaces across Australia. This includes the Bank’s Bendigo headquarters, where the Bank has signed a new 10-year lease in the Bendigo Centre, highlighting the Bank’s commitment to the region.
In addition to this, Bendigo Bank continues to invest in a wide variety of community strengthening initiatives and partnerships including Benefit Bendigo, BE.Bendigo, Bendigo Spirit, Bendigo Football Netball League and Bendigo Pride Festival.
Chief Customer Officer, Adam Rowse, said these investments demonstrate the Bank's ongoing commitment to its branch network and connection to the Bendigo region.
“We are proud to be the only ASX 200 listed company headquartered in a regional city. We are a community-focused bank with regional roots stretching back over 160 years, and our commitment to regional Australia remains as strong as ever,” Mr Rowse said.
“With branches in Mitchell Street, Strath Hill, Kangaroo Flat, and an improved Eaglehawk location, the investments we are making will ensure face-to-face banking remains convenient and accessible for our customers in our hometown."
Mitchell Street branch will be closed for upgrades from Monday 3 July, reopening on Monday 27 July. Eaglehawk branch is currently closed for upgrades reopening on Monday 29 July.
This investment follows the Bank’s decision to consolidate its two city-central branches – Mitchell Street and Bendigo Centre – providing customers with a unified, state-of-the-art facility in the centre of the city. The Bendigo Central branch will continue operating until Friday, 14 August 2026.
This decision recognises that customers typically prefer to use the Mitchell Street location with customer foot traffic at the Bendigo Central branch steadily declining and reflects the evolving ways which customers choose to bank.
Customers who want to learn more about these changes are invited to visit their branch and discuss their banking requirements with one of our friendly team members. An information session will be held at our Bendigo Centre Reception in Bath Lane on Monday 29 June at 5pm for customers who would like more information on convenient ways to bank with us.
