Our Branch

A significant amount of work and public consultation went into establishing the Mt Eliza Community Bank® Branch of the Bendigo Bank. A preliminary public meeting was held in April 2008 to discuss the idea and investigate what was required.

In June 2009 the committee engaged an independent consultant to help identify whether a Community Bank® branch would be viable in Mt Eliza. It was resolved in August 2009 to proceed.

A prospectus to raise $740,000 capital was issued on 30 October 2009. Eventually, $807,000 was subscribed.

We opened for business on 22 October 2010 in the Strand Village, Mt Eliza. From that time business has grown steadily and consistently.

Our branch is driven by an active Board of Directors who work closely with staff and the Bendigo Bank to steer the business and contribute to our local community in a meaningful and sustainable way.

We give most of our profit back to the community through local sporting clubs, organisations and initiatives. The more our business grows, the more we can contribute.

So consider us for your banking business – and help keep our local community thriving.

Our depositors are protected under the Australian Government’s Financial Claims Scheme (FCS) which provides protection and quick access to deposits made with a bank, building society or credit union in the unlikely event that one of these institutions fails. Find out more here.
