Stories of Success
Rye and District youth centre
Rye Youth Centre was an initiative of our board that came to fruition in February 2006.
The board had noted a need for support for young people in the town of Rye. It was their belief that a strong community nurtures its young to grow the next generation of leaders.
Moving quickly they partnered with YMCA Victoria to secure a youth worker and the Mornington Peninsula Shire to secure a premises.
In the ten years since its beginning the initiative has focused on building leadership potential and providing support and advocacy for Rye's young people. This has resulted in a growing local network of confident and competent leaders.
Tootgarook Primary School community building
In the early 2000's Tootgarook Primary School was run-down and earmarked for new infrastructure. This was taking time so they approached us to help make their vision of a modern and well-resourced school a reality.
We committed $30,000 a year over ten years to enable the construction, fit-out and landscaping of their new community building.
The building was completed in 2007 and has been used for a range of activities which would have been difficult or impossible without it.
These include music lessons, band practice, zumba classes and a breakfast club for students. As a result the community building is the school's most regularly used facility each year.
