2017 Razor Riders double their efforts for Griefline
Bendigo Bank is pleased to get behind the Chamberlain Foundation‘s Razor Ride 2017 in their endeavours to raise funds for support services for people experiencing grief and loss. In 2016 over $35,000 was raised from donations given to ten full-time riders for Griefline, but this year, the Razor Riders are doubling down, pumping those pedals and sweating on a donation target of $80,000. Literally.
In 2017, the ranks of the Razor Riders have grown from 10 to 22 with riders signing up for a 750 km ride around Victoria between 20th - 25th November.

RazorRide17 beneficiary: Griefline has again been chosen as a partner for the Chamberlain Foundation.
Bendigo Bank Executive, Engagement Innovation, Robert Musgrove said “We are pleased to support the Chamberlain Foundation in their efforts to raise vital funding for Griefline.
“Griefline play a vital role as Australia’s only telephone support service specialising in grief and loss, with the service coordinating some 200 allied health volunteers”.
“Griefline’s resources are deployed to manage referrals from other frontline services such as Lifeline, Beyond Blue, Victoria Police and many hospitals from across Australia. In an average year, Griefline:
* receives 52,000 calls from individuals across Australia
* responds to over 55,000 issues to do with loss or grief
* reaches 2,000 people through education programs
* supports 600 people through its online email and website service
* supports 1,000+ people through personalised programs
* enables over 200 volunteers to give over 48,000 hours of their time every year
Cheer them on: Achieving a donation target of $80,000 will enable Griefline to fully execute their plan of improving services offered to children suffering the effects of grief or loss, domestic violence, bullying and sexual abuse. Specifically, Griefline will fund research, expand Child Trauma Counselling programs and acquire play-based equipment.
Locations:
RazorRide17 commenced in Docklands in Melbourne on 20 Nov 2017. Riders will then cover 750kms of Victoria’s most iconic cycling locations over 6 days through Alexandra, Benalla, Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong, Rye and on to the finish-line at Beaumaris for celebrations at Black Rock Beach on 25 Nov 2017.

To keep the pedals turning, the riders will be fuelled by 1,500 litres of specialised hydration drinks, 500 energy bars, 60kgs of pasta and supported with 100 massages along the route. Four support vehicles and eight volunteers will keep the riders safe while managing motel bookings, meal preparation, and the post-ride recovery regime.
Bendigo Bank branches will also be supporting the riders by holding a “Casual for a Cause Day” to raise additional funds and charging a nominated amount for participating staff members and customers, as well as raffling some fantastic new bikes, generously donated by Giant Ormond, in participating branches.
