Bendigo Bank commits, Noosa celebrates

8 July 2019 |Community news

While other banks continue to close down their branches in regional Australia, Noosa has officially celebrated Bendigo Bank’s long-term commitment to the town.

Last Thursday nights’ party guests included Bendigo Bank’s Head of the Local banking, Nick Carter and acting State Manager, Rob Chittick, Member of Noosa, Sandy Bolton, Noosa councillors Jackson and Glasgow and many community group representatives. They were all at 114 Poinciana Avenue to officially open the Tewantin Noosa Community Bank® Branch.

Having moved across the road from its 15-year home, the new Tewantin Noosa Community Bank® Branch is here to stay with the building purchased and refurbished with customers and community in mind. Managed by Sunshine Coast Community Financial Services (SCCFSL), board chairman Rick Cooper said the Tewantin Noosa branch includes some big changes with some hi-tech conveniences’ everyone is already enjoying.

“The first thing everyone is noticing is the size of our new branch. It’s basically a community hub with a bank in the middle of it,” Mr. Cooper said.

“There’s nothing else like this on the coast. A part from being a full-service bank with industry leading customer service, it’s a custom built, customer focussed branch. Our customers can talk one-on-one with specialist members of the branch team in a comfortable sit-down environment,” Mr. Cooper added.

The Tewantin Noosa Community Bank® Branch is one of more than 320 other Community Bank® branches around the country and is one of 10 Bendigo Bank branches to be found on the Sunshine Coast.

“I think any town able to provide residents, traders and community groups with an alternative, locally-owned banking option continues to be great thing in today’s financial climate,” Mr. Cooper stated.

“Bendigo Bank’s commitment to Noosa through its Cooroy, Pomona and Tewantin Noosa Community Bank® branches has already seen more than $1.1 million given back to our communities, and we’re just getting started. There’s also opportunity to talk with our business banking by appointment, and having our own ATM remains a real plus for locals,” he said.

Local word of mouth and award-winning customer service continues to draw great customer support of the branch, and the added excitement of Noosa having a real say in its own financial future.

“As Australia’s fifth biggest retail bank, we want Noosa’s purpose-built expansion to continue to grow from strength to strength. We put our profits straight back into where we live and I think locals are more aware of what we do and what sets us a part from our competitors,” Mr. Cooper said.

He went on to say the message is simple - the more support the Tewantin Noosa Community Bank® Branch receives, the more support will be given to the community.

“Every savings or investment account, every home or personal loan, every insurance policy, and every product or service we offer, means money can go back into the community. As one of our branch’s customers, you not only make a decision that benefits you, you make one that benefits the whole community,” Mr. Cooper concluded.
