The Stanthorpe region will receive four major grants totalling $171,380. This will assist local organisations supporting the community with the bushfire recovery journey. Funds have been made available through The Queensland Bushfire Appeal.
Severe drought conditions led to the region experiencing devastating bushfires in September 2019. Adding to this was the challenges that came with the global pandemic and government restrictions. These events caused big impacts to the community.
The Queensland Bushfire Appeal provided $40,000 towards the 145th Stanthorpe Show. Through this Stanthorpe Agricultural Society were able to showcase their vibrant agricultural community.
Don Gaske, Chairman of Community Bank Stanthorpe and member of Queensland Bushfire Appeal Advisory Committee, praised the public generosity.
‘The Queensland Bushfire Appeal, and subsequent grants program, would not have been possible without the support of generous donors. Corporate and individual donations have allowed us to support important community activities. Supporting resilience and helping build connections is an important step in the community’s recovery.'
