Community Bank central on the NSW coast
Almost 16 years ago, East Gosford opened New South Wales’ third Community Bank® branch, owned by 285 local residents, traders and business people with a commitment to returning banking services to their town.
These people raised more than $470,000 in shareholdings to open a new style of banking in partnership with Bendigo Bank, then relatively unknown in the state.
But it was an investment that paid off for the Central Coast community. Since then, two more branches have opened in Lisarow and Kincumber, plus the Wyong and Ettalong Beach communities have each opened their own locally-owned branches.
Most significantly, this group of local Community Bank® companies has now returned more than $1.2 million in profits to the community through grants, sponsorships and shareholder dividends.
In recognition of their achievements, East Gosford, Wyong and Ettalong Beach Community Bank® companies have hosted the 2016 NSW/ACT Community Bank® State Conference.
