A significant amount of work and public consultation has been undertaken in relation to the feasibility of establishing the Alice Springs Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank.
A group of interested community members was briefed by Bendigo Bank in September 2005 in relation to the proposal to establish an Alice Springs Community Bank® Branch and following this briefing a Committee formed to progress the proposal. A preliminary public meeting was held to discuss the Community Bank® concept and the steps required to establish a Community Bank® branch of Bendigo Bank at Alice Springs.
Over the next eight months the committee engendered public awareness and support obtaining the required pledge level through a variety of community based activities. As a result‚ the Committee engaged an independent consultant‚ Richmond‚ Sinnott & Delahunty‚ to conduct a feasibility study in relation to the proposal.
The results of the feasibility study were presented to the Committee at a meeting held in August 2006 and it was unanimously voted to proceed towards the establishment of the Alice Springs Community Bank® Branch.
