A significant amount of work and public consultation has been undertaken in relation to the feasibility of establishing the Aspendale Gardens- Edithvale Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank.
A group of interested community members was originally briefed by Bendigo Bank on 25 May 2006 in relation to the proposal to establish a Community Bank® branch in Edithvale‚ and a committee formed to evaluate the proposal.
A preliminary public meeting was held on 9 October 2006 date to discuss the Community Bank® concept and the steps required to establish a Community Bank® branch of Bendigo Bank at Edithvale. In October 2006 the committee engaged an independent consultant‚ AFS & Associates Pty Ltd‚ to assist them to gather the information needed to identify whether a Community Bank® branch would be viable in Edithvale.
Prior to the completion of this feasibility study the steering committee then expanded the project to include Aspendale Gardens‚ and the committee sought to increase support‚ particulary from Aspendale Gardens residents. The consultants then conducted a further survey in Aspendale Gardens.
The Steering Committee has considered a number of options available to progress the project including considering joining forces with other potential community partners and the verification of support by the community of Aspendale Gardens and Edithvale. The overall results of the feasibility study and subsequent discussions were presented to the committee at a meeting held on 23 March 2009 and it was resolved to proceed towards the establishment of the Aspendale Gardens-Edithvale Community Bank® Branch.
