Little Blue Towels
During the month of October our branches are selling Little Blue Towels (LBT) to raise money for the Otis Foundation!
The Otis Foundation is a network of retreat accommodation that is available at no cost to those living with breast cancer. The retreat offers guests the chance to relax, reconnect and take a break from breast cancer with family, friends and supporters.
Breast cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and it is estimated that 16,000 females and 150 males will be diagnosed in 2017. A staggering 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed during their lifetime and 8 women die every day from this terrible disease. October is breast cancer awareness month so what better time to support the cause.
The LBT have been collected from hospitals where they have been used to sterilise hands, and are normally discarded after a single use. They are expertly laundered by Laundry Mates, an enterprise wholly owned and operated by people with disability living in or near Echuca, Victoria. The towels are then packed for sale by teams at Ability Works in Kew, and Task Force in Echuca.
100% re-purposed, lint-free and super absorbent, they are perfect for cleaning as well as great for fishing or camping. They’re good to keep in the car, boat, caravan, workshop or shed and just $7 for a pack of five!
Last year we sold LBT’s in each of our 128 branches throughout Regional Victoria. This year we’re doing it all again but bigger, so far we've distributed 540 boxes!
Head into your local branch to get yours before they’re all sold out.
