It’s just a few weeks to go until Currimundi Lake lights up again in celebration of the annual Lights on the Lake event.

Now in its seventh year, Lights on the Lake, is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular Christmas events with thousands of local families descending on the banks of Currimundi Lake to enjoy the Christmas concert and watch the spectacular boat parade.

Caloundra Community Bank® branch is again a major sponsor and will partner with Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club to light up the nights’ sky with a decorated inflatable rescue boat.

Branch Manager, Pip Fawcett, said there will be a special guest aboard the boat.

“This is our fourth year sponsoring the event and each year it gets bigger and better. We love being involved and our special friend will no doubt provide plenty of entertainment for the families on the night,” she said.

Lights on the Lake is organised each year by volunteers of the Currimundi Catchment Care Group and the Lake Currimundi-Kawana Lions Club.

This special Christmas event will be held in Crummunda Park on Coongarra Esplanade, Wurtulla on Sunday 10 December with Sunshine Coast Council joining us as sponsors.

Kicking off at 4pm, the community event delivers four hours of live entertainment on the shores of Currimundi Lake – the perfect setting for viewing the procession of kayaks and canoes lit-up for the evening’s finale.

Currimundi Catchment Care Group President, Tony Moorhead, said the plan was to continue building on the success of previous years.

“There’ll be a full program with live entertainment on our main stage as well as activities for all ages, including a supervised children’s area, community information displays, arts and craft stalls as well as plenty of great food providers.

"Every year the event attracts new interest from locals and community groups wanting to participate. We are very lucky to have established an event that is keenly anticipated by so many people," he said.
