Lights on the Lake bigger and better than ever

There was no better way to celebrate the community spirit of Christmas than at the annual Lights on the Lake event.

Thousands of people of all ages turned out to enjoy the entertainment of the event. On offer were children’s activities, arts, crafts and food stalls. A highlight of the night was the water procession of decorated kayaks and canoes and a stunning laser light show.

Here at the Caloundra Community Bank® branch we were once again a major sponsor. We were proud to join with the Currimundi Catchment Care Group, Lions Club of Currimundi Lake-Kawana and local Neighbourhood Watch groups in planning this festive event. Planning took place over six months and was coordinated with help from around 120 volunteers in our community.

The main stage program consisted of wonderful local talent who kept the crowds enthusiastic and lively. At The Offbeat One's drumming circle, people stepped up to have a go at playing some of the 20 drums.

Santa even managed to put in an appearance, arriving by Coastguard boat.

The winning boat in the parade was by the Boucher family. Their impressive decorations included a coral garden with beautifully lit jelly fish dangling their colorful tentacles as they paddled around the lake.

We were also thrilled to come away as the runners-up in the boat parade! Well done to the winners and all participants.
