Clunes arts boost

The $25,000 contribution from the board will ensure the completion of The Community Bank® Art Factory – two containers transformed into medium art studios. Local artists will transform the exterior of the containers to ensure a modern artistic façade to complement the existing site.

The project is community-driven with the overarching aim of creating a space where local and visiting artists can work, co-located in a space that encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to become involved.

The concept draws inspiration from the origins of the 70 Bailey Street site which was once the local school.

It was then transformed into a factory where locals were employed to weave socks.

Today, more than 50 years later, it’s to become once again a place of learning and industry to provide local practicing artists with the space and learning opportunities to hone their craft.
