Christmas comes early for Sarina & District Community Groups

Sarina and District community organisations have benefitted to the total of $223,561.88 thanks to recent investment from the Community Engagement Program of Sarina Community Bank® Branch Bendigo Bank.

At the presentation ceremony held in Sarina recently, 18 community organisations including local School P & Cs, Sarina Surf Life Saving Club, and the QCWA Sarina Branch benefitted from the Community Engagement Program (full list of recipients attached).

The community investments in the form of community grants and sponsorship ranged from $2000 to $50,000.

Sarina Community Bank® Branch Chair, Karen May, said the focus of our Community Engagement Program is about community investment and capacity building and our Program is one of the largest programs in the region.

“The investment through the Community Engagement Program has made a significant difference to our community and we look forward to continuing to work with the local community to support the projects they consider important ”, Mrs May said.

Sarina Community Bank® Branch is a wholly owned local enterprise that just happens to be a bank. Sarina and District Community Financial Services Limited is a local company with local shareholders, which operates the bank under the unique Community Bank® mode, which celebrates 20 years of feeding into community prosperity, not off it.

“The Community Bank® model has without doubt benefited our local community and proved sustainable. It’s been a real boost and certainly a tribute to the community visionaries who took on the challenge of opening Sarina Community Bank® Branch Bendigo Bank in 2005 and since then some $2 million plus has been invested in a range of community projects.” Mrs May said.

Sarina Community Bank® Branch has been about shared success – successful community and a successful banking business. It’s a win-win story for communities that recognises the power of local ownership and local decisions which has led to local success.

Our local Community Bank® company wouldn’t be able to invest in the community this way, without the support and banking business of our local customers and shareholders.
