We are committed to supporting local communities

Yes, it’s time to feel good about who you bank with.

Our Community Bank branches give up to 80% of profits back to the community. We aim to develop long-term prosperity by supporting programs that help empower local individuals and groups within the local community.

15th Anniversary Grant program

The purpose of the Grant program is to fund up to $150,000 of projects as a celebration of 15 years operation in the City of Whitehorse. The core principle of the program is to fund sustainable, capacity building projects in the City of Whitehorse and applications are encouraged from all applicants. The 15th Anniversary Grant program will be the only grant program operated during the 2020 calendar year.

The 15th Anniversary Grant program is:

• Capital grant program - we are seeking to fund physical projects that add to the community amenity of the City of Whitehorse

• The grant application period will be open until November 30, 2020 or until fully expended., which ever comes first

• Grant application appraisal and decision making will be progressive throughout the grant period. Grants will be reviewed, appraised and a determination advised within 60 days of receipt of the completed grant application

• Board approval of all grant application decisions will be required before applicants are advised of the outcome of the application, in writing.

  1. We will not fund projects that have commenced at the time of application.
  2. We will require that the applicant (or associates/members of the applicant) has current or potential future banking business with the Branch.

Funding will not be approved for:

  • Illegal purposes; or,
  • Political purposes; or,
  • Projects that represent a threat to the ongoing viability of Blackburn South Community Bank Branch; or,
  • Established operational costs of a project or program that cannot demonstrate a program of actions towards sustainability
  • Entities that are not incorporated
  • Privately owned entities

Grant approval may be subject to receipt of additional information – determined during the assessment and approval process by the board of WCEL (e.g. an undertaking, or an auspicing entity)
